Glam Squad + Sneak Peak to our Next Lookbook

This past Sunday there was no sleep or time off for the weary. Instead Karen and I worked with our main stay Glam squad to put out our latest upcoming lookbook.

Here are some behind the scenes of one of our edgiest lookbooks yet to give you a peak to some of the latest designer new arrivals to hit Buttons & Bows. As Karen and I were in the process of putting together these looks, we were quite honestly at a loss and didn't really know what we were going for. All we knew was that we wanted to feature these exceptional new arrival designers from Herve Leger, to Rick Owens, to Capulet, Alexander Wang, Chanel + some of our select vintage wares to give you a glamorous look all your own. The accidental end result produced a super glam, boho-chic  mixed in with a touch of unsubdued sass resulting in one that you're currently looking at today. If you haven't already signed up for our newsletter, do it now or connect with us on Facebook for our exclusive lookbook launch. These pieces are being held hostage at our Buttons & Bows head quarters until the release so that these one of a kind pieces can be up for purchase. Remember first come first serve!

Of course, this all wouldn't be possible without The Glam Squad, which is an all-star cast of creative individuals who made this lookbook a magical one.
Til the next!

Mettle Fair Trade

So our business card just got charged and our shipment is on its way! These pieces are just divine and even better in person! We can't believe that we are exclusively carrying Mettle Fair Trade in downtown Los Angeles! Unreal.

As seen in many editorials, blogs, and on some celebrity sightings, Mettle Fair Trade is fairly new to the jewelry swag scene. The award winning 'mettle - Fair Trade' range is the brain bank of Melbourne based fashion designer Brianna Hallihan, established after years of working within the industry both locally and abroad in London and Paris.

After work placement at the likes of Alexander McQueen and Martin Grant and post grad studies at Central Saint Martin`s London - mettle was conceived in Cambodia en route back home to Aussie land. Each piece is fair trade accredited, limited edition and hand made using recycled bomb shell metal from the Khmer Rouge and Recycled Lucite. The entire range is produced in Cambodia and Indonesia within a small, not for profit income generation and skills training project owned by it`s members.

All pieces are finished to the highest quality standards with our aim being to bridge the gap between design driven pieces and fair trade ethics.

Not only are we supporting sustainable fashion all encompassing they follow Fair business dealings and supports small disadvantaged producers through a business relationship which is fair and non exploitative. They also make sure people are well-supported seeing producers as people; not just producers of goods.

Now do some good, rock the swag, and support Fair Trade business! Sustainable fashion is ruling supreme and is in keeping with all that Buttons & Bows stands for. Visit our DTLA location next week!

Wearing from BBLA LANVIN knit cardigan, vintage necklace, Jeffrey Campbell metallic booties, and Balenciaga bag. I'm wearing it with this kick ass slit skirt from Nasty gal and my American Apparel crop top.

Couldn't help it.  How could I? When you own a consignment shop, all you want to do is have an imaginary life of dressing in extraordinary things that don't belong to you. Here I am wearing a Lanvin knit cardigan, Jeffrey Campbell metallic oxblood booties, and the Balenciaga bag. One of my favorite jewelry pieces to hit the store is the vintage modernist bib necklace that I am wearing up above. Yes, yes sacrificial lamb am I. Call the Whaaaaa-mmmbulance.

Favourite things

Buttons & Bows new arrival: Silk Robert Rodriguez Jumpsuit
Buttons & Bows new arrival: Stella McCartney vegan leather hand bag
Buttons & Bows new arrival: Calvin Klein thigh high boots
Buttons & Bows new arrival: Pony Hair spotted oxfords
Buttons & Bows new arrival: Thee cutest pair of lace up oxfords we've ever seen.
Buttons & Bows new arrival: The best-broken in boots like these Christian Dior boots

Some of our favorite things to hit the store this week. Too much good stuff!

LA Woman Rising

Last Saturday I took Karen with me to a fund raising event for this Art Haus documentary I was a part of which follows the morning rituals of about 50 different women in LA. The film focuses on a range of women from a house wife, to vagrant, to a business woman, to someone like me.  It took place at a very prominent and reputable photographer's house by the name of Phillip Dixon. (Google his ass, he's pretty legendary.) He's photographed anyone from supermodel icons such as Iman, Naomi Campbell, Blondie, Angelina Jolie, and more.

His home is as legendary as he is. It's been written up in many architectural digests. From the outside it looks like a discreet concrete building with high walls, but once you step inside into his humble abode you're transported to a Moroccan oasis in the middle of the Abbot Kinney chaos.

I couldn't support a more sincere project that's headed by our dear friend Nana Ghana whose got so much soul behind this film. You can view more pictures and learn more about the project HERE.

Her kick starter ends in a few days and if you like what you see and you believe in supporting the project, help us fund this project will you? You can donate whatever you wish HERE.
