BBLA BRANDS WE LOVE: Introducing Lauren Cecchi New York

Good day there Buttons and Bows homies!!!!! Tis I, Roderick and with so many brands and labels sprouting up all the DAMN time, we figured we should start introducing some of the new up and comers and brands we love to our readers and customers. Also, how insane is it when we actually get these dope pieces in stores for you to buy!!!!! I know… I’m just as excited as you are!!!!

*White Lauren Cecchi Sorella handbag*

The story behind this label and how it came on our radar here at BBLA is suuuuuper random. So back in late 2012, I (Roderick) was chosen as one of the top 5 candidates to vie for an assistant buying position with Gilt Groupe on a show called The Job. Of course, my/our episode did not end up ever airing but I ended up bonding with all the contestants and kept in touch, via how folks keep in touch now days in 2013 (Twitter, Fbook, Insta… etc.).

*Lauren Cecchi (in Red) and I with the other 3 contestants during taping of The Job on CBS*

Lauren Cecchi, one of the contestants, was rocking this great looking bag on her instagram account and I realized she started a new line and immediately told her I had to rep her bags in Cali!!!! Like I HAD TOOO!!!! It was that serious and the bags are as well. Simple, classic, and dare I sound ridiculous and cheesy, but incredibly chic!

And now we are here… I’m super stoked to introduce you all to Lauren Cecchi New York ! All handmade in the New York city’s garment district and materials all sourced from the US as well!!!!  So as it’s now coming up on the end of Lauren Cecchi New York Fall 2012 outreach, this first season of hers definitely set the tone for the years to come. Not only will Lauren Cecchi New York be featured on the show, The Good Wife, in its 1st episode airing in the new year, but she also landed a booth at this coming ENK for Fraiche @ Circuit, which is a new platform for emerging accessories designers showcasing handpicked labels based on their creative skills, craftsmanship, quality and originality.
Right now you can order a Lauren Cecchi bag online at and any West Coast retailers looking to possibly carry the bags, don’t be shy to reach out to me at

What ya wearing? OOTD Ft. De'La

As I browsed through the shop, searching for the perfect outfit to play dress up in, I thought about how a woman could never have too many LBD's! Tried and true I went and checked my own personal closet and realized I probably do have waaaayy too many. The Little Black Dress is essentially perfect for those days when you are just completely sure you have absolutely nothing to wear!

Oh and of course for dancing in.

Jammin: With The House of Marley

During this month's Downtown Los Angeles Artwalk, the BBLA team got down to some groovin sounds with the House of Marley crew to host a pop up shop with the HOM merchandise. Not only did 6th street get to enjoy the best reggae sounds by the House of Marley dj squad, we had some amazing Jamaican Patties provided by Wi Jammin, and the tastiest Fair Trade quinoa vodka cocktails from Fair Spirits! All items are still in the shop so come on down and get those Christmas gifts out the way!

The night was good and I caught some snaps of the action, including an impromptu dance moment!

What do you do in your free time: I rep a couple of accessories labels and a clothing label. RB of McD, Lauren Cecchi New York, and McMarden Roam the streets... Thrift... Make new friends... I used to blog ( But now I just flirt with all the beautiful people of this city!

Spirit animal: hmmmm...

Favorite Song/Band/Station: '90s hip hop and R&B

What were you wearing in high school: what every other Midwestern suburban kid was rocking... Abercrombie, j. Crew... Blah blah blah blah... Kinda uninteresting fits. I spent a lot of time in Adidas and soccer warmup suits back then as well.

Current obsession: Tender Greens & Downtown LA

Man Crush: Michael Basilli Woman Crush: Lisa Bonet

Favorite piece in the shop: That Vintage Nina Ricci beaded dress. I love the story behind it and I look forward to the day someone else comes in and falls in love but wants to tweak it in a modern way... Or just in her own way. I mean, that's what I love about clothes... The same piece looks and can stands out for different reasons depending on the individual rocking it!
I also love the Surface by Air cardigan we have in the men's section. The pattern is dooooooooope! I'd rock it with a mono top and bottom look. Like a chocolate on chocolate or white on white or red on red or even a yellow on yellow :-)!

Musing Over - Saint Heron

One of my biggest inspirations if you weren't aware is Solange Knowles. Now if you are not already a fan of hers, I suggest you take the time out to do some research on this amazing being. Now not only does she make some beautiful R&B sounds that generally set me into a nice throw back /90s mood, she has a timeless style and a wonderful ear (she dj's too). And not to mention the hair! Definitely a trendsetter for this century in her own light. I could go on.....Ok enough of my girl crushing. The point of this post is SAINT HERON. For those that don't know Saint Records is Solange's new boutique label and SAINT HERON is the soon to be released compilation featuring some extraordinary out of the box R&B crooners. Set to release on vinyl, cd and digitally, the artists included are Kelela, Sampha, Jhené Aiko, Petite Noir, Cassie, Jade De La Fleur, Starchild, India Shawn, and Iman Omari. Also featured are LA's own B.C. Kingdom, who are dear friends of mine that I couldn't be more proud of. The first single off of the compilation is from MD/DC native and my new obsession Kelela called Go All Night.

Sit back relax, and take a trip with a beautiful new voice that I hope you'll enjoy!
