Des Meets Dusan

The name Des Kohan, has become synonymous with LA fashion, due to this woman's impeccable curation of women's fashion at her namesake boutique. It's truly a treat to know her & every visit to her a store leaves me in a state of awe. Here's an example of what I mean. Recently, Des hosted an event that featured contemporary designer, Dusan Paunovic. Guests were able to talk to Dusan, himself, as well as view & purchase his collection, inspired by minimalism. It's simple, timeless pieces with geometric lines & luxurious fabrications - what more do you want? But I think the best part about his designs is the functionality & flexibility. Many pieces have no sizes, making the buying process so much easier on everyone! Some can be worn in different ways & can transition from day to night, offering women sensible style that they can repeatedly use. But don't take my word for it. Have a look at the Dusan line for yourself at Des Kohan (671 S Cloverdale Ave. Los Angeles (323) 857-0200). Tell her Karen & Mo sent you. :)

Memorial Day Shop & Give

Happy Memorial Day weekend, everyone! Karen and I were thinking about what special thing to do during this time for BBLA....should we have a sale, an event? Finally, we decided on something even better that benefits you guys, our customers, and also the men and women who have served our country. After all, our troops are the main reason for celebrating Memorial Day. We decided that we'll give a portion of our sales from today to Monday to Homes For Our Troops, an organization that assits severely injured veterans and their families. You can shop in store or online. This way, we give everyone the opportunity to give while still being able to treat yourselves to a little something special. We're going to shop, anyway. It might as well be for a good cause.

Have a happy, fun, and safe Memorial Day,

Monique & Karen

Huge News!

A year ago, Karen & I decided to turn our e-bay store into a boutique in Downtown LA. Many of you know our humble little store on Main Street that we love to fill with vintage & designer treasures for your shopping pleasure. Well, it's finally happened! We've outgrown our space and now, we're on the move to a much bigger location. But don't worry....we're staying put in Downtown. In fact, we'll be just a few blocks away on 6th, where all the action is! So excited to join our future neighbors, Rocco DTLA, Haus of Love, Sustain guys get it. We still have the old location open for the time being so of course, feel free to keep stopping by. Opening day is still TBD but check back here often to find out when we launch! Thanks for all of your love & support! Karen and I wouldn't be here without it.

Happy Mother's Day!

Karen & her son, Nesta

Mo & her mom, Patty.

She was there at the beginning
When the world was new to you -
She was there to turn to happy times
Those when, you were hurt or blue.

She was there to listen to your thoughts
And when you asked, to give advice -
She was there to tell you, "Those don't match!"
Or, "Hon, you sure look nice."

She was there with you at nighttime
To help you say your prayers _
She was there to tell you, "It's alright."
When you had a dream that scares.

She was there at morning time
To get you up and out of bed -
She was there when you didn't feel good (or did)
To say, "You'd best stay home, instead."

She was there when you were hungry
And when you had those dirty clothes -
She was there when you needed her
(How she knew? Only heaven knows.)

She was there at the beginning
And she'll be there your whole life through -
She'll be there in your mind and heart
Just like a mother is supposed to do.

Happy Mother's Day to all the moms in the world!

Shades On

No one can resist a good pair of sunglasses. They're both fashionable & functional staples that shield our eyes from the bright sun while giving our outfits that final stylish touch! Certain styles have come & gone, but these frames have withstood the test of time. Which one frames your face perfectly?

Oversized round frames are a staple, popularized by the chicest of chics, Jackie O. Nab these Oliver Peoples, available now online & in store.

Wayfarers have made a comeback because of their flattering shape & vintage essence. These sunnies by The Row resemble Pharrell's shades & are available online & in store.

We can't talk about sunglasses without mentioning oversized squares! Popularized also by Jackie O, this frame is without a doubt, a  classic! These Gucci's are available in store & online.

And last but not least, we can't forget about the aviators. Its metal frames look RAD on both men & women, as proven by Johnny Depp...sigh... These Pradas that we have at the store are a variation of the classic aviator style. Available in store & online.
