Pisces Earthstrong

It's common knowledge that Scorpios essentially have a monopoly on the Fashion Industry, leading the pack in all venues from the models on the runway to the behind-the-scene big dogs, but coming in at close second are Pisces. There's something about water signs, with their naturally deeply intuitive and emotional natures that makes them best suited for the arts. As Pisces season hit full throttle, we wanted to send out some Earthstrong Wishes to BBLA's own resident Pisces--coowner and founding partner, Karen Marley as well as some of our other favorite fashionable fishes.

Check them out below!

First and foremost, we're sending out Earthstrong wishes to Karen Marley!!! With a birthday on February 26th, Karen is born at the beginning phases of Pisces which makes her pretty much the best kind of Pisces. Those born between February 19th and the 29th are naturally inclined to be selfless, intuitive and romantic. They have a strong imagination and would see beauty and poetry in everything, which describes our Karen perfectly. This warm and inviting woman shares her passion for fashion with the world in our store and by teaming up with her sister, Cedella to design. Her closet is so vast it was the inspiration behind BBLA. We wish you a Happy Birthday and many, many, many more!

The always fashionable, Rihanna is right on the cusp of Aquarius and Pisces. She recently celebrated her 27th birthday on February 20th with rumored boyfriend Leonardo Dicarprio and other celebrity friends including Naomi Campbell, Beyonce + Jay-Z, Russell Simmons, Bill Murray, Mick Jagger,  and Paris Hilton. The star studded bash was held at a private home Beverly Hills and was documented--in true Rihanna style all over instagram. While in-betweenies get traits from both signs they border, t's clear her personality leans more towards Pisces with her deep sensual nature as evident by her style.

The late, great Alexander McQueen is a Pisces who would've been celebrating his 46th birthday on St. Patrick's Day (March 17th). While his unfortunately and untimely death lives on in infamy, his designs and unfathomably unique work survives and remains as proof to the depth of his genius. True to his sign, McQueen possessed a deep and brooding emotionally calculative mind.

Committed to Living: Bob Marley turns 70

There's many things to do, say, and celebrate in honor of Bob Marley's earth strong that lands today, February 6. From local celebratory happenings, to concerts, to never-released Bob Marley material from the family, we celebrate more than just the King of Reggae's earth strong; we celebrate his legacy! Today we honor this timeless icon of peace, style, love, & music that forever continues to inspire the world today.

On our playlist, is the just-released: digitally remastered Bob Marley Interviews: So Many Things to Say, which you can stream for free on Spotify, but you can also purchase this through iTunes here.  So Many Things to Say, is a rare thirty-five minute interview with Bob Marley from 1973, by legendary Jamaican DJ and journalist Neville Willoughby. The interview was recorded in Jamaica upon Marley’s return from the Burnin’ album tour in the U.S. and UK. The recording, combined with background tracks, has been digitally remastered and re-edited by Marley’s wife, Rita, and their daughter, Cedella Marley. Definitely a must-listen to get reacquainted with the King of Reggae.

Tuff Gong International, in partnership with Caroline Records, has announced the 2015 re-release of a number of rare albums from its distribution catalog. The albums feature classic performances from some of the best loved artists in reggae music including Sanchez, Tyrone Taylor, Nadine Sutherland, and Dillinger. Most have been out of print for more than two decades, and none have been available digitally.

Also in the news, Rolling Stones reports that the Marley family are granting Universal Music Group access to its extensive and private vaults of previously unreleased music to make for stocked reissues, video releases and new live albums.
One thing Bob Marley cinematic fans will want to watch out for is the Bob Marley and the Wailers' Easy Skanking in Boston '78- a never-before-released live CD/DVD. Footage from this gig was filmed on a handheld camera by a fan that Marley gave permission to stand front-and-center. The release is due out on February 17th. During their 1978 tour, in support of Kaya, Marley played a pair of gigs at the Boston Music Hall on June 8th. It's unclear whether Easy Skanking was culled from the early or late show, but both gigs feature the same setlist, with early Wailers tracks mixed in with legendary cuts like "No Woman, No Cry," "I Shot the Sheriff" and "Get Up, Stand Up."

If you're lucky to be in the birthplace of Robert Nesta Marley, then you'll need to know about all the happenings in town.
